Paramahansa Yogananda, known as the father of yoga in the West, introduced core teachings that focus on spiritual awakening, self-realization, and the harmonious integration of Eastern spiritual wisdom with Western lifestyles. 1. Self-Realization and Unity with the Divine

  • Yogananda taught that the true purpose of life is to realize our divine nature and to experience oneness with God. He called this journey “Self-Realization,” which is the awareness of the soul’s unity with the Divine.

  • He believed that all religious paths lead to the same truth, encouraging seekers to respect all paths and recognize their shared purpose.


2. Meditation and Kriya Yoga

  • Yogananda popularized Kriya Yoga, a powerful technique of meditation that helps to accelerate spiritual evolution and purify the mind. Kriya Yoga involves specific breathing techniques and exercises to quiet the mind and awaken higher consciousness.
